Centric Architecture is thrilled to partner with Friends of Shelby Park and Bottoms and the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville to revitalize the former U.S. Naval Reserve Training Center. Located at the western entrance into the park, the 26,700 SF building housed the Naval Reserve Training Center until 2009. Since then, the unused building has remained a iconic element in the park.
Shelby Commons will be a new parks, arts, and cultural center for all of Nashville. Programmatic elements will include co-working space for arts nonprofits, artist studios, event and performance hall, rehearsal spaces, community gathering spaces, and park rentals. Additionally, the project will bring much needed food concepts into the park. The surrounding grounds will be fully redeveloped to activate the site, provide parking, and connect with the surrounding park programs.
