It has rightly been called iconic. One of the premier early examples of Greek Revival Architecture in America, the Tennessee State Capitol (1845-1859) is a masterwork of famed Philadelphia architect William Strickland. The grand structure heavily influenced the spread of our young country’s ideals to the rest of the world. It is from these hallowed halls that Tennessee became the final state needed to ratify the 19th amendment in 1920, granting women the right to vote.
